Coffee Cup Camera – One Touch Start

The design of this spy camera solution is very well thought out. There are no exposed switches or charging ports on view or anything else on the outside of the cup, which is really important so as not to arouse any suspicion. The video recording operation can be set in motion with a single touch operation, by pressing a certain place on the top of the lid. To confirm start up, the Cup Cam can be set to discreetly vibrate, so there are no flashing LEDs or anything else that would alert attention. Once recording, the cup can be held in the hand in a normal position or maybe placed on a table facing in the right direction to video the subject with absolute discretion. Recorded video has time and date stamp on the video footage, which is ideal for evidential purposes.

P2P WiFi – Watch & Set With A Smartphone

This portable camera solution offers the added benefit of smartphone connectivity via a free downloadable app. The app enables device operation, settings adjustments, and remote control of recording start/stop and playback. Live viewing from the spy camera through the app also greatly simplifies camera positioning for optimal subject capture. This is a significant advantage, as it allows the user to see exactly what the camera sees in real-time, directly on their smartphone screen. This eliminates the guesswork involved in positioning the camera, ensuring that the desired subject is always within the frame.

Changeable Micro SD Card- Easy Playback

Twisting the cup lid shell anticlockwise and lifting this cover exposes the manual controls, the charge/offload port and the SD card slot. The supplied USB lead can be connected to charge the internal lithium battery or to connect to a computer for playback/offload recorded footage. After a full charge the Coffee Cup Camera can record video footage for up to 160 minutes. A 16 GB card is supplied, but the device will accept up to a 32 GB card, a cost option shown in the dropdown menu. Standard media players on connected computers should play the files without issue; however, VLC, a free downloadable player, is recommended for broader compatibility. Wide Angle View – Interchangeable Coffee Cup

While the cup cannot record in total darkness, it performs well in dusky, low-light conditions. Its 66º angled lens captures a reasonably wide field of view. The camera system is supplied with three standard size generic drinks cups, but any standard size drinks cup could be used in conjunction with the camera cup lid. This provides the opportunity to attach a cup style that is more relevant to the setting in which it is being used. Although the cup can of course hold liquid, it is NOT recommended that hot liquid is used just in case the heat and condensation have an adverse effect on the camera system.

Can you put actual coffee in the cup?

Yes, the cup can hold liquid. However, it’s advisable to use cold liquids. Hot fluids might affect the camera system in the lid due to heat or condensation.

Does the operating system include a motion detection feature?

No, this device doesn’t have motion detection. You have to activate it manually to record video. Motion detection isn’t really considered an advantage for how this device is typically used.

Is it possible to record only audio with the Coffee Cup Cam, and no video?

How can I be sure that what I’m recording is actually in the camera’s view?

The camera uses P2P WiFi, which allows you to check the camera’s view by connecting a smartphone to it using the free app provided. Also, while the camera lens is a pinhole, it’s a wide-angle lens (66 degrees), so generally pointing the camera in the direction of your subject should ensure they’re within the frame.

Is the video footage clear enough to identify someone?

Yes, absolutely. The video is smooth and clear, and it’s generally high enough quality to identify someone who is reasonably close to the camera when the footage is taken.

I’ve seen portable spy cameras advertised as HD before. Is the HD on this camera genuine, or is it just lower quality footage that has been upscaled?

The video footage from this camera is true 1080p High Definition; it’s not upscaled. The system is designed to handle light and movement in a way that produces very high-quality output.

Consider The Following When Using This Cam:

• Dependant on how much you intend to use the Coffee Cup Camera during a period of surveillance, it may be best to have a USB battery charge pack available so that it can be charged on-the-go between uses
• Consider having multiple micro SD cards for increased versatility.
• To listen back to recordings requires a computer (standard USB 2.0 port) or a compatible smartphone (OTG cable).
• Supplied with 3 x generic coffee cups, however any standard sized drinks cup can be used as well. It is NOT recommended that hot liquids are held in the cup with the camera lid on top as the heat/condensation may have an adverse affect on the electronics.
