The best spy devices will blend into the background. As listening devices go, the GSM PIR Sensor has to be one of the easiest to fit into the surroundings of an office or home environment, by simply appearing as a normal PIR Sensor. A clever GSM Bug that will not arouse suspicion on any level.
GSM Bug Completely Concealed Within
There is no need for a tiny device that requires concealment because even under close inspection the GSM Bug PIR gives nothing away. And because any normal PIR Sensor is mounted at ceiling height, then there should be no issues with sounds in the room not reaching the inbuilt sensitive microphone. This PIR GSM unit contains a quad-band GSM module and as such can be used in any country worldwide and on top of this it has been unlocked to accept a SIM from any network, although it has in the UK only been tested on EE, Vodafone and Virgin SIM cards. The unit can be powered from the internal rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, but if powered by the mains supply, the battery can offer back up in the event of power supply failure, thereby allowing the GSM listening bug to be used in permanent or long-term capacity.
Movement Sensor Triggers Call to Predefined Number
What makes this GSM listening device more special is the fact that the PIR Sensor has been used to provide a movement/heat detection facility for the listening device. When the GSM audio bug detects body heat or movement within about 3 to 5 metres of the sensor, the unit will automatically call the mobile number that it has been set to call (requires credit on the SIM card). The call receiver will then be able to remotely hear what is being said in the room on their mobile phone. This facility can be activated and deactivated by sending a simple coded text message to the SIM inside the unit. Movement/heat detection is regarded as being more reliable than sound activation, with less false alerts.
Sensitive Microphone Technology in this GSM Listening Device
This unit can be placed in a fairly large room for audio surveillance. In a quiet environment, the sensitive microphone can pick up normal level speech within a radius of up to 8 metres from the PIR GSM listening device. The combination of the movement sensor trigger and the audio listening facility means that listening in time can be reduced to only those times when someone is moving within the room in which the product has been placed.

Will this GSM Bug work as a standard PIR Sensor on an alarm system?
No, the ability to connect and be part of an alarm system has been removed to give space for the listening device components.
How sensitive is the microphone?
The microphone should easily pick up sounds in a radius of up to 8 metres.
Will the GSM bug still work if it is unplugged from the mains power supply?
Yes, the device also has an internal rechargeable battery, so if mains power is interrupted then it will still be operative for an extended period.
Can the device be used without being connected to the mains supply?
Yes, this is possible, but is less practical because this would mean having to connect a battery charger for a number of hours before the device was ready for use again.
Does this GSM Audio Bug come supplied with a SIM card?
Yes, we normally supply with a Virgin SIM or Orange card, but this can be easily changed over when you receive the GSM unit if required. (Almost certainly this will be required when deployed outside the UK).
Does the GSM Bug make any noise or are there any indication that it is being used as a listening device?
There are no giveaway signs whatsoever.
You will need the following to use this equipment:
- You will need a working phone (mobile or landline) to enable you to listen in to the bug.
- This unit is not supplied with a SIM card and as such it will need to be installed with an active standard size SIM card of your choice to suit the location or your own needs as to network suitability.
- This unit is primarily mains powered although there is a back-up battery within that will keep the system active if the mains power supply is cut/switched off.
- To be able to take advantage of the motion activation facility the SIM card inside the GSM PIR Sensor Bug will require credit or will need to be a contract SIM.
