Remote Listening Function – Simple to Use

Historically, the ideal audio surveillance device has been one that combines both live listening and recording. This product achieves this, complementing our recently launched listen-and-record range. Using a smartphone app, users can listen remotely to live audio while simultaneously recording. Recordings can also be triggered automatically by environmental noise. The WiFi Listen and Record Plug is activated by simply replacing an existing switched plug socket, after which, once connected to the mains supply, enters setup mode for connection to the local WiFi network via a user-friendly smartphone app, available as a free download.

Easily Controlled Using Your Smartphone

Unlike other live listening and recording solutions that rely on mobile (cell) networks and require a SIM card subscription, this device uses a 2.4GHz local WiFi connection for live streaming, remote control, setup, and monitoring. Most modern WiFi routers support the 2.4GHz frequency, often concurrently with other frequencies. Connecting the device to the local WiFi network is very straightforward, assuming the user’s smartphone is also connected to the 2.4GHz network.

Utilising an existing WiFi connection offers global connectivity without incurring hidden costs or additional charges. The system is easily managed via the free smartphone app, enabling control of the device from any location. The app is available for download from both the Android Play Store and the Apple App Store. Consequently, users with a stable wireless Internet connection can listen live and playback/download recordings from virtually anywhere.

Voice Activated Recording – Alert Notifications

This advanced listening device can be configured to record either continuously or in response to ambient noise (sound activation). In sound activation mode, recording is triggered when noise exceeding a user-defined level (adjustable within the app) is detected within an approximate 8-metre radius. Recording continues for a pre-programmed duration (1, 5, 10, or 30 minutes). The device includes ample internal memory storage, providing up to 40 days of sound recording capacity. The recording system also features an overwrite function, which automatically replaces the oldest files when the storage is full.

If alert notifications are enabled, the app on the user’s phone will receive a notification when sound activation occurs, providing the option to listen in real-time. These alerts can be disabled within the app if desired. Recordings are catalogued for easy access and can be downloaded remotely to the user’s phone via WiFi. The smartphone app also provides functionality for:

Controlling activation sensitivity and memory formatting

Enabling or disabling notifications

Deleting recordings from the device’s internal memory

Beyond a very small microphone hole discreetly positioned on the floor facing edge, there are no external features that would arouse suspicion.

Are there any LED status lights or unwanted operational sounds?

Given that the product’s functionality is entirely managed through a smartphone app (for both iPhone and Android) and that setup is initiated upon mains power connection, there was no requirement for external lights or status sounds.

Because this product is only controlled via a Smartphone app, is it still simple enough to keep track on the recorded audio files?/p>

Each recorded file is automatically time- and date-stamped, facilitating easy cataloguing. These files can be downloaded via the free smartphone app used for control and settings.

Does the WiFi Listen and Record Wall Socket only take power from the mains supply or is there a backup battery in case the mains power goes down?

Power is exclusively drawn from the mains when the unit is plugged in, as there is insufficient space to accommodate a battery of any significant size.

What happens to the settings if the WiFi Listen and Record Wall Socket is disconnected from the mains power supply?

pon being reconnected, the device retains its previous settings. However, a 5-minute phase is initiated during which the setup procedure is active. This phase can be ignored, allowing the previous settings to persist.

• This product is operated using either an iPhone or Android phone. Use of one of these smartphones is required to operate this product.
• The WiFi Listen and Record Wall Socket is accessed via a free downloadable app available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Deployment is only possible in a location with a stable WiFi connection with single-password access (where you know the password), as opposed to a two-stage type used in shared environments such as hotels or general-access WiFi. Some Sky WiFi Routers may experience connectivity issues with this device.
• If the WiFi connection is set to deliver only 5GHz, then 2.4GHz transmission will need to be enabled by accessing the router settings setup menu.
• If a standard WiFi setup is unavailable at the desired deployment location, but you still want to use this product, then a MiFi mobile device should be considered to provide a hotspot WiFi connection.
• This product is operated remotely from iPhone or Android smartphones only – desktop computer operation/control is not currently supported.
